What do you love about living in the Berkshires?

What challenges do we face here in Berkshire County?

What challenges are your neighbors facing?

What are your hopes and dreams for life in this region?

These are some of the questions that we’ll be talking over around the tables at our upcoming pot-luck lunch on Sunday, May 1. Rev. Huntington and members of the Mission Board will guide the discussion as we gather input for Berkshire Interfaith Organizing (BIO) and their work of improving life for us all here in Pittsfield and the Berkshires. This “Listening Session” as it’s called in community organizing is a grass roots way to listen, learn, and develop ways to respond to concerns in the wider community. The dozen or more faith communities participating in BIO are all hosting such “Listening Sessions” in preparation for an “Issues Assembly” that will coordinate the results. (That assembly will be held in Barrett Hall here at South on Thursday, May 12 from 5 to 7:30 p.m.)

Your thoughts, stories, and experiences are critical in shaping this interfaith work. Plan to join us on May 1. Bring a dish and your reflections as we seek to strengthen community here at South and in the Berkshires.

Child care will be provided as well.

Many thanks to the Mission Board for hosting this lunch.
