Tonight we share in our Maundy Thursday service at 7:30pm. with solemn hymns, anthems, and music. We will share in Communion and enact the betrayal of the disciples as we read the story of the betrayal, arrest, trial, and condemnation of Jesus. Please come and share in this heartfelt spiritual experience that will conclude in silence by 8:30pm.

Here is a ‘worshipful thought’ about tonight’s service:

Our Maundy Thursday Worship with Communion and Tenebrae takes us deeply into the events of Holy Week. “Maundy” is from the Latin meaning ‘commandment.’ On this night Jesus shares his Last Supper with the disciples and gives to them a new commandment: “Love one another as I have loved you.” To live into such a love that flows from the depths of our hearts is profoundly challenging. The word “Tenebrae” is also from the Latin meaning ‘shadows.’  As we enter into the story of this night with its betrayal, arrest, trial, and condemnation of Jesus we encounter those shadows — shadows that dwell not just in seats of power but in each human heart. It is only by naming the shadows and being honest about our human failures that we discover how to live out Jesus’ new commandment to love from the heart. This is what Maundy Thursday and its symbolism is all about. May you find it a moving and transforming experience as we walk with Jesus on this holy night.
