Berkshire Totes for Tots

Recently we heard about “Berkshire Totes for Tots,” an initiative co-developed by Amy Tanner and Ashley Priester, both of whom have served as foster parents. This organization donates bags of personal care items and small toys to children who are taken into custody of the MA Department of Children and Families and sent to foster homes so that when they go to a strange home, they will have something to call their own.

There was recently a great article about this organization in the Berkshire Eagle.

While sorting through the items we have been collecting for our up-coming Tag Sale, we have found some duffle bags and back packs that may be of use to them for this project. We have been in contact with them and once we get everything together we will donate the items to them.

If you have children’s new or gently-used back packs or duffle bags to donate specifically to this cause, please bring them in and we can deliver the articles all together. Most needed are the tote bags, but some other items that they need include blankets, shampoo, body wash, wash clothes, hair brushes, combs, coloring books, crayons, notebooks, books, small toys and stuffed animals, socks, etc. Our preference is always to support local businesses, but to assist in this ministry South Church has compiled a Totes for Tots Amazon Wish List of the items needed.
